Enforcement of Seabrook Island Traffic Laws

We are fortunate to live in a very safe community.

Let’s keep Seabrook Island a safe place to live and visit.

Traffic laws, including speed limits, stop signs and bicycle rules on Seabrook Island are strictly enforced, within our manpower capabilities.

29 traffic citations were issued in May, including the following:
• 8 speeding violations
• 7 stop sign violations
• 1 no pass displayed
• 5 parking violations
• 1 commercial access violation
• 2 failure to stop at gatehouse
• 1 driving on wrong side of road

Drive safely and enjoy your island.

  1. Speeding is getting to be a real problem on the Island. 25 mph is the LIMIT and not a suggestion. It is frustrating to have people driving up my tailpipe. Most offenders do not have SIPOA stickers on their cars…. I would welcome increased enforcement. Also, bike riders need to ride single file. More dissemination of this rule is needed (a bold print flyer passed out when visitors arrive and receive their passes?). Someone is going to get hurt if speeding is not dealt with and if bikers are not adhering to the single file rule.

  2. Was the culprit in the driving on the wrong side of the road violation a Brit?
