C. Rip rap in front of benches
D. Place benches further back from Palmetto Lake
E. Be vigilant and aggressive with nuisance alligators
F. Catch and tag alligators
G. Ban fishing at Palmetto Lake or require removal of caught fish away from the lake, don’t release back into lake or leave on bank.

Adopt a Highway Program

No new coordinator(s) but will keep publicizing.

Waste and Recycling

Charleston County just announced that it will no longer accept shredded paper.

Phil Squire brought up the continuing issue of illegal dumping at the Maintenance area. We have taken an aggressive position, including cameras and fines. A new sign will note the $200 fee.

There has been a marked improvement since fines and since monthly brown and white have been implemented.

Nature Trails

Offshore Drilling

Barry provided an update on the permits being reviewed by BOEM.

Turtle Patrol

The first nests are due to hatch soon. There are 43 nests to date. There have been some issues with people waiting at night hoping to see babies come out of nests.

Blue Birds

Seabrook Island Birders

The next meeting on September 22 will showcase bird tagging.
