CHS County Comprehensive Plan Update

Charleston County is currently soliciting public input regarding the 10-year update to its countywide comprehensive plan. To learn more about the county’s comprehensive plan update, please click here.

The 10-year update to the county’s comprehensive plan will include revisions to the following planning elements:

  • Land Use
  • Transportation
  • Housing
  • Cultural Resources
  • Natural Resources
  • Economic Development
  • Community Facilities
  • Evergy
  • Priority Investment
  • Population

As part of its outreach effort, the county will be holding a series of 7 public workshops.  Each workshop will be set up as a drop-in format, where attendees can view the proposed amendments at their own pace and submit comments and suggestions before leaving the workshops. The closest workshop to Seabrook Island will take place on Tuesday, March 20th, from 5:30 pm to 7:30 pm at Johns Island High School (1518 Main Road).

Residents who are unable to attend the public workshop on March 20th may still submit comments through one of the following methods:

  • Attend one of the 6 other public workshops throughout the county between March 19th and March 29th
  • Complete the county’s online comment form (comments will be accepted through March 30)
  • Email comments to Andrea Harris-Long at
  • Mail comments to the Planning Department at 4045 Bridge View Drive, North Charleston, SC 29405
