Today, we honor those who have given their lives in the service of our country.
As a holiday to remember the fallen and honor their sacrifice, it began about 200 years ago and was known as Decoration Day. After World War II, it was renamed Memorial Day and in 1971 it became a federal holiday.
In observance of the holiday, the SIPOA Administration Office at 1202 Landfall Way and the offices of the Town of Seabrook Island at 2001 Seabrook Island Road will be closed.
