Gullah Celebration Thanks from SIHAF

Gullah 2018 (81 of 298)
On May 19, hundreds of people gathered under the huge tent on the Freshfields Green to participate in the 4th annual Gullah Celebration, the major fundraiser for the Sea Islands Hunger Awareness Foundation (SIHAF). Thanks to the generosity of so many, $115,000 was raised to support the Foundation’s programs to alleviate hunger and provide clean water to needy residents of Johns and Wadmalaw Islands.

Seabrookers were especially supportive of the festival with financial sponsorships, auction item donations and purchases, ticket sales and by volunteering to plan, implement and staff the event.

SIHAF especially appreciates everyone’s patience and understanding during the silent auction check-out process. Unfortunately there was a procedural glitch that resulted in some delay and confusion. Every effort will be made to correct this in the future.

The programs supported by SIHAF include Water Wellness, Blessing Basket, Crockpot Cooking, and Backpack Buddies among others, all of which are familiar to the many Seabrookers who volunteer so enthusiastically to make these efforts possible. To learn more about these programs, click here.

Sincere thanks to all!
