Amateur Radio Technician License Class and Test, October 24-25

Interested in obtaining a radio operator’s license?

The Town of Seabrook Island is sponsoring an FCC Licensing Class for anyone interested in obtaining an Amateur Radio Technician Class License.  This is the entry-level license, and is the most popular type of license.

The class will be held at the Seabrook Island Town Hall on October 24th
and 25th:
•    Class on Wednesday, October 24th will be held from 8:00AM to 5:00PM with an hour break for lunch.
•    Class on Thursday, October 25th will be held from 8:00AM to 12:00 noon.  After a break for lunch, the test will begin at 1:00 PM.
•    Lunch will be provided.

The last class of this type presented here on the island was in 2013.

The class will be conducted free of charge by volunteers from the Charleston Amateur Radio Society (CARS). There is a $15 cash charge for the test, which consists of 35 multiple-choice questions. For individuals who successfully pass the test, the results are forwarded to the FCC; the FCC will assign a personal call sign and authorize a
10-year license. The license is renewable online at no cost at the end of the 10-year period.

Please email Max Willis (mwillissc@yahoo.com) if you would like to take advantage of this opportunity. We need to get a list of the attendees as soon as possible to make sure we have enough participants to hold the class and make necessary arrangements.
