When the world changes, fashion changes and this May, The Charleston Museum explores the shifts in fashion and silhouettes following modern, world-wide periods of warfare. Opening May 24, 2019,
War on Fashion will be an in-depth examination as to how and why fashion changed following The Age of Revolution, WWI and WWII. Using examples from the Museum’s Historic Textiles collection dating back to the late 18th century with creative and engaging panels and displays, Teresa Texieira, Curator of Historic Textiles will demonstrate how styles shifted through the decades and up to the mid 20th century. The exhibit will be on display through December 1, 2019.
Museum members will have an exclusive opportunity to view the exhibit before it opens to the public at the Members First Look. On May 23, 2019 from 2:00 – 5:00 pm, museum members will have access to the gallery, where Teresa will be putting the final touches on the exhibit.
