Exchange Club Seeks Support for Hunger Project

A large proportion of the residents of Johns and Wadmalaw island have a hard time getting enough good food to stay active and healthy in the best of times, and with the advent of the Coronavirus, that challenge has become insurmountable to some. Many of these families live with the stress of “food insecurity,” they are not sure that they will be able to feed their family next week, tomorrow, or even today.

In response to the crisis and the need, the Exchange Club of Kiawah-Seabrook has taken several immediate steps. The Club’s Foundation is dedicating its funds to the Hunger Project. The club is also reaching out beyond its membership to solicit funds to help make sure that the residents of Johns and Wadmalaw island don’t go hungry in this critical time of need.

The fundraising goal for the Hunger Project is to raise $50,000 in the next 30 days to help feed island residents.  To date, over $21,000 has been contributed. All hunger-related organizations on Johns and Wadmalaw islands can access these funds, and we have already disbursed nearly $18,000 to groups including Hebron Zion Food Pantry and Senior Citizen Outreach, Rev. Patty Gordon Churches, St. James Bethel, Amor Kitchen and Our Lady of Mercy.

Any assistance that you can provide will help. Contributions can be made to the Exchange Club Foundation by check or through PayPal at the Exchange Club website here. Checks should be made out to The Exchange Club of Kiawah-Seabrook Foundation and can be mailed to 130 Gardeners Circle PMB-J, Johns Island, SC 29455.  Please include the phrase “Hunger Project” on the face of your check.

Please consider a generous donation to this critical effort to help us in this battle.
