SCDNC Erosion-Renoursihment Webinar 2020

Join SCDNR for their “Bringing the Outside In” series:
Ways to connect with the outdoors while staying indoors!

Our educators and biologists are offering a series of online programs every Thursday at 3 p.m. Each program will last about 45-60 minutes with live chat options for an interactive participant experience.

Erosion and Renourishment: Unearthing Coastal Treasures
Thursday, June 4, 3:00 pm

First comes erosion, then comes renourishment. Katie Luciano from SCDNR’s geology team will explain the natural erosion processes happening in our coastal environments and the use of renourishment to keep some beaches from disappearing. Ashby Gale, owner and paleontologist at Charleston Fossil Adventures, LLC, will share with us fossils unearthed in the process, from giant animals that roamed present-day South Carolina in the last Ice Age to remnants of sharks and whales that swam above our shorelines 30 million years ago.
