SIGC Meeting January 8 – Succulent Gardening

Did you know that not all succulents are related to one another? Succulent is an umbrella term used in the plant world to denote any plant that has adapted to survive in arid, sunny conditions. Think: dry desert!

Join the Seabrook Island Garden Club Zoom meeting Friday, January 8, 2021, “Succulent Gardening”, with Ryan Watkins, general manager at Brownswood Nursery. Ryan will give us a presentation showing the different varieties of succulents and make suggestions about what types of containers to use and soil recommendations. (Some of you may recall Ryan’s presentation about landscaping choices for Seabrook Island).

In addition to the wonderful landscaping plants they carry, Brownswood also offers a variety of house plant choices, including succulents, in a little cottage on their property. There will be a short business meeting at 9:45 am and Ryan will start his presentation at 10:00 am.

You must be a member to join the meeting. You can join the garden club by emailing us at After you join, we will send you a Zoom link a few days before the January 8 meeting.

The club has many exciting events planned for our 2020-2021 season. If you have an active interest in horticulture and artistic design, community beautification, ecology or philanthropy, the Seabrook Island Garden Club is the place for you.
