E-bikes are Prohibited on Seabrook Island Beaches

Recently there have been several reports by beachgoers that Electric Bikes (also known as “E-Bikes”) were being used on our town’s beaches.

The Town of Seabrook Island (TOSI) wants to make clear:
The use of E-bikes on Seabrook Island beaches is prohibited by Town ordinance.

If you are on the beach during the day and observe the prohibited operation of an e-bike, you can report it to SI Beach Patrol at (843) 718-6083. They can respond to either phone or text messages.

Specifically, the TOSI ordinance states:

E-bikes are subject to South Carolina Motor Vehicle laws under SC Code Sec. 56-1-10, 56-5-3420, and 56-5-3520 and as such are prohibited from being driven or operated on the TOSI beaches.
