SIGC Welcomes Trident Tech Horticulture Presentation

The Seabrook Island Garden Club has long supported the Foundation at Trident Technical College (TTC) with donations being directed to funding scholarships for the Horticulture Program. Scholarship recipients graduate to secure many types of positions in the horticulture field including but not limited to, landscape designer, greenhouse production specialist, retail nursery grower, arbor culturist, irrigation technician, park manager, pesticide application technician, golf course technician and floriculturist.

At the April meeting and program, Tony Bertauski from the Horticulture Department at Trident Tech will do a presentation about the Associate of Arts program in Horticulture Technology, and the various certificates offered, such as Landscape Design, Edible Crops and Sustainable Agriculture.

Tony has been at the helm of the horticulture program at TTC as Director since 2005. He began his horticulture career working on a golf course at age of 17. His educational achievements include a Bachelor’s Degree in Plant and Soil Science from Southern Illinois University and a Master’s degree in Horticulture from University of Illinois. Please join us for this educational and informative program.

When: Friday April 8, 2022; Arrival and refreshments start at 9:00 am followed by a brief business meeting at 9:45 am. 10:00 am the presentation will begin with Q&A to follow the presentation.
