There are a number of interesting workshops and tours on the calendar this month and in January at the Charleston Museum. The museum also includes two historic homes, the Joseph Manigault House and the Heyward-Washington House. Tours for both historic houses are on the half-hour from 10:00 am to 5:00 pm Monday through Saturday and noon to 5:00 pm Sunday. Last tour of the day begins at 4:30 pm. The calendar of special events this month includes the following:

December 4 – Last day to view Chintz: A Quilted History
December 7* – Children’s Holiday Workshop
December 9 – Conversations with a Curator: Baubles and Bulbs
December 9 – Fossil Friday with the Natural History Department
December 10* – Holiday Candle Making Workshop with Local Artist Daisy McClellan
December 13* – Members-only Sneak Peak Curator Tour: America’s First Museum: 250 Years of Educating, Part 1
December 15* – Homeschool History Day: Holidays in the Lowcountry
December 16 – Fossil Friday with the Natural History Department
December 17 – America’s First Museum: 250 Years of Educating, Part 1, our commemorative anniversary exhibit, opens to the public
December 18 – Last day to view Charleston in Sports: A Photographic History, 1890s – 1960s
December 24 – Museum and historic houses close at 1:30 pm
December 25 – Museum and historic houses closed- Merry Christmas!
