Art of Jazz: Manny Houston August 16

Charleston Jazz presents:

Art of Jazz: Manny Houston
August 16, 2023

6:00 – 7:00 pm
Gibbes Museum of Art

Manny Houston, is back in town! Friends and fans have followed his artistic endeavors from Disney to New York City’s Forbidden Broadway: The Next Generation, and then off to Los Angeles for recording and songwriting opportunities, followed by a tour with Freestyle Love Supreme.  Add to that, work with Rockapella and an appearance on the hit TV show, Don’t Forget the Lyrics, Houston has truly become a voice for the Lowcountry on the world stage.

Manny Houston, along his bandmates Stachia Simmons on drums (of Momentum & Sta.La.V and The Tribe), and Mike Quinn (of Doom Flamingo) on saxophone, will headline the grand finale of the Art of Jazz series on August 16 at 6:00 pm at the Gibbes Museum of Art.  This is a rare opportunity to experience Houston’s performance in an intimate, up-close setting.  Musical selections are new, original compositions inspired by works on display at the museum.
