It was a busy weekend at The Lake House with a variety of holiday events. Thanksgiving day dawned sunny with a cool 48-degree temperature for the (just over) 5K Turkey Trot, an annual family-friendly, multi-generational, tons of fun event. Friday morning, our local artisans gathered to showcase their talents and wares at the Holiday Art Fair. Mid-afternoon on Friday, creatively decorated vehicles of all shapes and sizes led by Santa and Mrs. Claus made a loop around the island in the annual Holiday Parade. As dusk approached, a crowd gathered for the lighting of the Christmas tree while enjoying refreshments, music, s’mores and lots of holiday cheer.

Annual (just over) 5K Turkey Trot
November 23
Over 350 enthusiastic runners, walkers, and their fans gathered at The Lake House for the 8:00 am start of this fun walk/run. Wearing their specially-designed race-day tee shirts, children, parents, grandparents, and furry friends on leashes lined up together at the start area.
At exactly 8:00 am, the siren blared, and the participants headed onto the course.
Twenty minutes later, the first runner returned to The Lake House followed by the rest of the pack. All were greeted with cheers by the onlookers.
Special thanks to Nic Porter, Jamie Mixson, The Lake House staff, and the volunteers for organizing and managing this terrific event and for all the spectators who cheered on the runners.
Holiday Art Fair
November 24
A steady stream of people came out to see the interesting array of artworks and craft items created by talented Seabrookers. Works included original paintings in several mediums, books of photographs, note cards, machine embroidered items, weavings, adorned serving pieces, and more. Thank you to the many artisans for displaying artwork for Seabrookers and visitors to enjoy.
Holiday Parade and Tree Lighting
November 24
The sun came out just as the Fourth Annual Holiday Parade kicked off at 3:30 pm Friday afternoon for its complete loop around the island. Lead by Santa and Mrs. Claus, gaily decorated vehicles participated in the parade followed by our friends from the SJFD who took up the rear. Do you recognize any of the cheerily clad participants? The holiday spirit was abundant. Let the holidays begin!
Following the parade, Seabrookers gathered with their families and visitors on the lawn of The Lake House. While awaiting the lighting of the new holiday tree, hot chocolate and roasted marshmallows for s’mores were available and there was time to enjoy meeting old and new friends. As dusk descended, the crowd was delighted by the illuminated tree, which boasts 8,000 lights. A good time was had by all!
