Backpack Buddies Year End Update

Backpack Buddies Seabrook Island just concluded a successful 2023-2024 school year supporting children with food insecurity on the weekends. This past school year, with the help of Seabrookers, we delivered over 424 bags of food a week. That’s over 16,000 in a school year.

Both teachers and principals have all told us how much the parents and children appreciate these bags of food delivered weekly to Mt. Zion and Lambs Elementary Schools as well as Saint John’s High School.

The Backpack Buddies Seabrook Island Board of Directors hosted the annual volunteer appreciation evening on May 23, 2024 to thank over 100 dedicated volunteers for their program support. Approximately thirty volunteers joined us for a short presentation, question and answer session and light refreshments. It was a wonderful way for the volunteers to get together and for the Board to express their gratitude. Mark Snyder, Co-CEO said “We could not run our program without their generosity, dedication and support.”

Be on the lookout for our annual fundraising campaign “Backpack Buddies Seabrook Island Challenge” that kicks off on Monday, August 5, 2024.
