Discover the magic of creating vibrant, expressive landscapes with a limited palette, expressive brushwork, and unconventional tools. Learn to see beyond the ordinary and capture the essence of nature in your art.
Stephanie’s teaching style is hands-on, encouraging, and focused on inspiring creativity. “I believe everyone has the potential to create beautiful art, and I’m passionate about helping you discover your unique artistic voice.” This workshop welcomes artists who are new to landscape painting, as well as experienced artists seeking fresh inspiration.
Each day will begin with a prompt and short lecture about landscape painting principles, color theory and composition. Key areas of interest will be clouds and foreground. Stephanie will weave in her studio and field insights. She will also create a fun, lively learning environment. You’ll get plenty of individual guidance and feedback as you work on your own pieces.
Recognized for her architectural portraits of rural America, Stephanie Hartshorn is a signature member of the American Impressionist Society. Her work has been featured in national exhibitions and publications. These include Western Art & Architecture, Southwest Art, Western Art Collector and others.
Hartshorn, a fifth generation Coloradan, depicts the quiet resonance of a life built on hard work and familial ties. From iconic barns, fields and crisscrossing power lines to motel signs and carnival rides, she captures the strength of the American West unlike any other artist working today. “I have always loved the details of design: rhythms and complex beauty and the lines and curves are man-made world. I consider my paint as a sculptor might her clay. Each brush stroke takes on a form of its own and, in the end, creates textures that explore and express an object or scene.”
