On October 19, Seabrook Island Village (SIV), Neighbors Helping Neighbors, hosted an interactive workshop entitled “You and Your Brain,” as a follow-up to the previous, well attended Brain Health Seminar. Using audience feedback from the previous program, registration was limited to assure a lot of interaction.
Andrea C. Sartori, Ph.D., Clinical Neuropsychologist and Neurology Department faculty member at the Medical University of South Carolina returned to Seabrook for a more in-depth presentation and discussion of brain health.
Dr. Sartori focused the workshop on four seminal topics:
- Medical indications of brain aging
- Normal and not normal brain aging
- Common causes of cognitive impairment
- Lifestyle changes to promote healthy brain aging
Following her informative remarks on each topic, Dr. Sartori responded to questions and encouraged discussion from the participants. The dialogues were fantastic as participants identified questions and discussed concerns.

This program was supported by a grant from the Town of Seabrook Island. SIV thanks the town and the many volunteers who made this a success.
Our next workshop is scheduled for February 7, 2025, and will be practical approaches to helping others—in and out of cars or chairs, on stairs and related safety tips. Save the date!
