Where To Recycle Eyeglasses

Eyeglass donation box at COSTCO

Historically, organizations like the Lions Club have led eyeglass recycling efforts. Since 1925, Lions International has championed combating vision impairment and blindness through their recycling programs. The Lions still spearhead this effort by working with several partners to facilitate the collection of eyeglasses and lenses, and several other organizations now join in this effort.

Where can you donate glasses and lenses in our area? Your contribution can help someone in need experience the world with clearer vision.

Here are some ways you can donate eyeglasses.

  • Walmart Vision Centers: Lions Clubs International has a partnership with the Walmart Corporation. You can deposit your eyeglasses at any participating Walmart Vision Center, such as the one on Folly Road, James Island.
  • COSTCO: COSTCO has a partnership with Assist International and you can deposit your eyeglasses in the box on the counter in their Optical Center in West Ashley.
  • LensCrafters: LensCrafters is an eyewear retailer that accepts donations of prescription and non-prescription eyeglasses. The company partners with OneSight to distribute the donations globally to individuals who need them. You can locate your local LensCrafters store here.
  • Local Lions clubs: Contact a Lions club in your community to find out if they collect eyeglasses. Use the Club Locator to find a local club near your community. Once you’ve located a club, click the envelop icon to send a message to the club.
