In his own words:
My professional career was in the banking industry. I lived in Charlotte but traveled extensively. Upon retirement, my wife and I moved to Seabrook about seven years ago. I had not done much with my photography during my working years, but I learned about the Photography Club on Seabrook and decided to join. There is a high level of expertise among its members and a willingness to share that knowledge with the group. The Photography Club guest speakers and field trips have also helped me to become a better photographer.
My primary interest in photography continues to be to document my travels in this country and other parts of the world. Africa and Egypt are two very interesting locations for photographers, Africa for its wildlife and Egypt for its historical sites. We found that using group tours work best in these countries, but they present unique photographic challenges. First, we couldn’t always control setting up the best spot for good composition; we couldn’t relocate to the best angle to get a shot. Second, we couldn’t always make the best use of light (mornings, evenings) because we typically visited sites during the middle of the day. Despite these challenges, the sheer spectacle of witnessing these iconic locations firsthand far outweighed any photographic frustrations.Bill McIntosh
