Status on Median in Front of The Lake House

The extent of the new landscaped median is complete for this year. The irrigation, landscape lighting, crosswalk signage, and landscape plantings are almost finished. The General Operations and Maintenance Committee (GOMC) and the SIPOA board will review tentative plans to extend the landscaped median past The Lake House in the future.

In 2021, the Safety and Security Committee recommended that the GOMC find a safer way for pedestrians and bicyclists to cross Seabrook Island Road. Several alternatives were studied, and the decision was made to build a landscaped median with a crosswalk at the intersection where Seabrook Island Road diverges into two roads near the Racquet Club.

The first phase of this project was completed in 2022. The second phase picked up in March 2025, where the first ended, and continues to Live Oak Park Road at the first entrance of the Lake House. It includes a crosswalk from The Lake House to the Racquet Club as well as an additional sidewalk on the side of the road opposite the Lake House.

Stay tuned to Board and GOMC meetings for information about extending the median.
