Backpack Buddies Fundraiser 2025 Still Needs Your Help!

Because hunger does not end on Fridays

The Backpack Buddies Seabrook Island Fundraiser is off to a strong start, and as you may be aware, Backpack Buddies directly benefits school children in the surrounding area who deal with food insecurity on weekends. Our goal this year, with your help, is an aggressive $80,000.

Three weeks into our fundraising campaign, with your generous donations, we have achieved 66% of our total goal. We have five weeks to go, and with your help, we can get to the finish line for the upcoming school year.

Mary Agnes Seabrook, a former teacher at Mt. Zion Elementary and a volunteer at Angel Oak Elementary School, shared the impact of the Backpack Buddies Program, which provides students with consistent access to nutritious food essential to health and academic outcomes:

“Backpack Buddies is a wonderful program to support elementary students in need of nourishment over the weekends in our Johns Island schools. The students, who participate in the program, look forward to receiving their backpacks every Friday to take home with them.  What’s inside is always a delightful surprise. The Backpack ingredients not only delight the children, but also bless the families who find shopping with the increased cost of groceries challenging. Please consider generously supporting this very valuable service to our islands’ students and families.”

Any amount is greatly appreciated, and just $250 will cover the costs for one child for the entire year. You can also join many fellow Seabrookers in supporting Backpack Buddies by becoming a “Friend of Backpack Buddies Seabrook Island” with a donation of $1,000 or more. Donating is easy by using the Backpack Buddies Seabrook Island website. Donations can be made online via PayPal, credit card, or check.

Backpack Buddies Seabrook Island is an all-volunteer 501(c)(3) non-profit organization. The Fundraiser will run until September 26, so it’s not too late to make a donation today!
