Pat Van de Graaf is an accomplished artist and printmaker whose work reflects decades of dedication to her craft. During her years in Connecticut, she served on the board of the New Canaan Society for the Arts and was an Artist Member of the Silvermine Guild of Artists, where she generously volunteered in a variety of roles over many years.
Primarily a printmaker, Pat devoted more than 25 years to the discipline, studying at the Art Students League in New York City and Syracuse University. She earned her degree in Printmaking and Art History from the University of Bridgeport in 1990, returning to school as an adult student—a testament to her passion and commitment to the arts.

Her prints have received numerous awards in local and regional exhibitions, and until recently, her work was represented by the Charleston Artist’s Guild Gallery and the Spencer Gallery in downtown Charleston, South Carolina. Today, her artwork can be found in many private and corporate collections. In addition to printmaking, Pat is also an accomplished watercolorist.
Pat and her husband of 67 years share a rich family life with three sons, seven grandchildren, and six great-grandchildren. She first came to Seabrook Island in the mid-1970s, and 27 years ago, they built the home where they still reside.
While she spent many years creating etchings, Pat has since stepped away from printmaking and now focuses primarily on watercolor, with an occasional return to oils for enjoyment. As she puts it, “I love watercolor—and I’ve recently gone back to oil just for fun, though not too much… there’s a bit too much cleanup involved these days.”

Beyond her art, Pat enjoys reading, golf, sewing, and travel. She also serves as an ordained Elder at Johns Island Presbyterian Church. Pat remains an enthusiastic—if self-described “not very accomplished”—golfer at Seabrook Island.

Please come and enjoy Pat’s impressive artistic work in the Lake House during the month of May and come to the reception Tuesday, May 5, from 4:30 pm to 6:00 pm.
