Russell Graves is a Texas-based photographer, writer, and educator with a career spanning over three decades. A former national award-winning teacher, he now combines his passion for the outdoors with his background in instruction to lead photography workshops worldwide. His work has been featured on hundreds of magazine covers and in numerous books, earning him a reputation as a premiere storyteller of rural and natural landscapes.

Russell will move beyond technical settings to explore how a storytelling approach can transform your nature photography. By treating subjects as characters in a narrative rather than just objects in a frame, you can create more compelling and impactful imagery.

During his talk, he will focus on practical narrative advice including techniques to improve your ability to document subjects with a “story-first” mindset. In addition, he will teach how to identify and capture the subtle details that convey a larger natural history story. He will also provide actionable tips to elevate your technical skills while strengthening your overall storytelling abilities.

Russell’s approach should lead our visual story-telling into new directions. This presentation will appeal to photographers of all skill levels.
