Caring for a loved one or friend living with dementia can be challenging. This Seabrook Island Village program will offer practical strategies, communication tips, and local resources to help caregivers better support someone living with dementia.
Venita Olson, representing the South Carolina Chapter of the Alzheimer’s Association, will discuss how dementia affects communication and how caregivers can respond with a person-centered approach. She will also address common behavior changes, non-medical responses, and signs that additional help may be needed.

Sara Perry, executive director of Respite Care Charleston, will follow with information about local participant programs and caregiver support groups. The workshop will be held Monday, October 19 from 2:00 to 3:30 pm in Live Oak Hall at the Seabrook Island Lake House.
