PARKING ALERT FOR 6/24/2016

On Friday, June 24, 2016 there will be a large golf Tournament here in Seabrook.  Therefore, no parking will be available at the Beach Club that day.

If you are planning to go to the Beach Club or Pelican’s Nest during the day on Friday, there will be a Beach Club Shuttle.  It will run from 10am until 6pm.

A Transportation Concierge Will Be Provided At The Beach Club and the last Beach Club Shuttle will depart at 6pm.

3 Loop Routes will be available as listed below and the Shuttles will be clearly marked with the correct loop.  Shuttles Will Be Clearly Marked With Correct Loop.

Town Sponsors Alan Fleming Tournament

The Town of Seabrook Island is sponsoring the Alan Fleming Senior Open Clay Court State Championships which will be held October 5th – 9th at the Seabrook Island Racquet Club for the second year in a row. The Town has contributed five thousand dollars ($5,000) to underwrite the Tournament. Mayor Ron Ciancio explained the reason for the Town support: “First and foremost, the Town of Seabrook Island whole heatedly endorses the tournament’s support of Respite Care of Charleston and that organization’s effort to support the victims of Alzheimer’s disease and their families.  In addition, we are cognizant of the positive economic impact the tournament has had, and will have, on our community.”

In return the Fleming Committee expressed its gratitude for the support of the Town. Susan Leggett, Tournament Chair, declared: “The Alan Fleming Tournament Committee is delighted to have the Town’s continued support of this notable tennis tournament. Their financial sponsorship bolsters the quality of the Tournament and broadens its appeal to players throughout the country.”

Barrier Islands Free Medical Clinic “Giving Ring”

This year the BIFMC’s annual golf event will be held on Monday, April 25th, at Cassique on Kiawah Island.   Businesses and professionals in our area have a new and valuable opportunity to support the clinic at this fundrasier.

Our golf tournament will attract over 130 golfers from Kiawah, Seabrook and the surrounding area. All participants will receive a gift bag and a chrome ring holding the business cards of local merchants, companies and professionals. At dinner, BIFMC doctors will urge all attendees to use this “Giving Ring” to support these businesses and professionals who sponsor the BIFMC’s mission to provide a meaningful and lasting impact on the quality of life for our neighbors.

MUSC Living Donor Institute 2nd Chance Golf Invitational

 

Save the date!  On Monday, May 16,  the Medical University of South Carolina’s Living Donor Institute will hold its 2nd Chance Golf Tournament on the Crooked Oaks Golf Course on Seabrook Island.  Registration will commence at 10 AM with a tee off at noon.  Tournament play includes: Green Fees with Cart, Lunch and Beverages on the Course, Celebration Reception with Open Bar, Tournament Prizes & Contests.

Haygood/Grady Memorial Tennis and Golf Tournament

racket logoThe 6th Annual Haygood/Grady Memorial Tennis Championship, Dinner & Silent Auction will be held at Kiawah Island on May 13-15.  In addition, a golf tournament will take place at the Oak Point Golf Course on May 14th.  Details on both events can be found in the attached two flyers and at their website: http://www.haygoodgrady.com/

These events are held to honor the memory of a woman whose hope and smiles inspired everyone who knew her and worked with her at the Kiawah Island Golf Resort – Prinella Haygood.  And to also honor the memory of Linwood Grady who helped start the tennis tournament and tragically also lost his battle with cancer in 2013. Proceeds will benefit Roper St. Francis Cancer Care, as well as an education trust for Prinella’s two young son

Respite Care Golf Tournament on Seabrook April 4th

RCC gold 2015Respite Care Charleston announces the 12th Annual Betty Cannon Golf Tournament at Seabrook Island on April 4th. This annual tournament is named in honor of Mrs. Betty Cannon, a long time participant in the Respite Care program, and held as an annual fund raising event.

Golfer and sponsorship slots are still available for this enjoyable tournament at Seabrook Island Crooked Oaks golf course. After golfing for the day enjoying the ocean views, sit back and relax with other tournament players and guests with a casual dinner. Tournament Schedule of events: Registration begins at 11am followed by a putting contest at 12:00 pm. Shotgun start begins at 1:00 pm with a reception and awards following completion of play (around 5:30pm). This event is rain or shine.

Respite Care Charleston is a non-profit organization that strives to improve the quality of life for individuals and families coping with Alzheimer’s disease and other dementias. Respite Care Charleston provides social day programs and caregiver support groups for individuals and families. Participants in respite programs enjoy memory stimulating socialization, art therapy, music therapy and gentle exercise. Family caregivers can benefit from a much-needed break by taking their loved ones for the activity filled day programs. Programs are available each day of the week at locations on Johns Island, James Island, North Charleston, West Ashley and Mt. Pleasant. As one of the hottest tickets in professional sports, the Volvo Car Open (formerly known as the Family Circle Cup) is more than just a tennis tournament, it’s a festival with some world-class tennis thrown in. During the week, fans are entertained with a variety of activities aimed at making their week on Daniel Island a memorable one.

Seabrook Island Tennis Fundraiser for BIFMC

Wednesday, March 9th, the Barrier Islands Free Medical Clinic benefitted from the generosity of our Seabrook Island Tennis Club members. Over forty-five men and women participated in this tennis event to raise funds for our non-profit medical home so our uninsured neighbors on Johns, Wadmalaw and James Island can continue to obtain healthcare services, at no cost.

BIFMC Board member, Vasco Pickett, and Clinical Charge Nurse, Wanda Weart, shared the BIFMC’s impact on our local communities and stories of patients who have benefitted from the efforts of the 50+ volunteer physicians, nurses and support staff at the clinic with the tennis players. More than half of the volunteers at our medical facility reside on Seabrook Island.

Everyone who participated enjoyed a beautiful day on the courts and a wonderful wine and cheese gathering rounding out the venue. Thanks to the Seabrook Island Tennis Club, our “Miracle on Maybank” clinic can continue to keep islanders healthy and productive.

Seabrook Island Veterans Day Charitable Golf Event Rescheduled

The Veterans Day Charitable Golf Event originally scheduled for 11/9 has been rescheduled for Monday 11/16. The event honors veterans who have served the country and raises money to support the Wounded Warrior Project and the Ralph Johnson Veterans Hospital. If you had not originally registered to play but would now like to participate, please call the golf shop at 843‐768‐2529.

The event will be a captain’s choice scramble format beginning with a 9:30 A.M. shotgun start. Teams will be flighted for awards based on total team handicap. There will be pizza and drinks in the club house after play is completed. All Lowcountry residents are invited to participate. Individual registrations are welcomed.

The entry fee for Seabrook Island Club members is $70 plus cart fee. For non‐club members the fee is $120. $50 of the entry fee will be set aside as a charitable contribution to the Wounded Warrior Project and the Ralph Johnson Veterans Hospital.
