unnamedSeabrook Island Photography Club
January Meeting
January 21, 2016 at 6:30 pm
Lake House – Live Oak Hall
Open to all Seabrook Island residents and guests

The Seabrook Island Photography Club is kicking off 2016 with a presentation on “Seeing Light” by Alice Keeney, a well-known local professional photographer. As the most basic and critical element of photography, it is important to understand light, the many qualities it can take on and how to take advantages of that understanding in improving our pictures. Alice will provide examples of, and discuss, how to see and identify different types of light, how to manage light, and how that can improve your own photography regardless of your level of experience or the equipment you use.

Alice has spoken to our group a number of times and always gets a very good reception from those attending our meetings. Here is a summary of her biography:
Since returning to the United States in 2005 after attending Speos Photographic Institute, in Paris, Alice has been busy photographing a variety of events throughout the Charleston, South Carolina area, as well as abroad. She loves a challenge and anything that keeps her on her toes. Whether it is a photograph of President Obama, or your wedding day, she strives to create the very best image possible.

She has been working for the Associated Press for several years covering news events in the coastal region of South Carolina. Recently, Keeney’s images have appeared on the front page of the New York Times and USA Today, along with many other newspapers across the nation and around the world. Her images have also been featured on The Wedding Row and Borrowed & Blue. Alice also works at the Charleston Center for Photography where she teaches just about everything from Intro to Digital Photography to Advanced Photoshop.

While the January meeting is open to all without charge, the Photography club will be collecting 2016 dues of $30 for its regular members, hopefully at this first meeting. If you are not sure if you want to be a member, join us for this meeting and ask someone in the Club leadership to help you decide.
