Well known colorist LAURIE MEYER will be holding a workshop at the Oyster Catcher Pavilion on January 28-29th, 2016 entitled “Using Color to Turn a Photo Reference into Art!” She describes her class as follows:
“One thing I deal with on a large scale is the “copying” of photographs from my students. This will be a color class, but it will address how to use color knowledge (which we will go into in great depth) to paint like an artist and not reproduce like a copy machine. We will study how color, value, and temperature create three dimensions on a two dimension surface. We are magicians, and our colors are our tricks to fool the eye!”
Laurie has lived and painted in Charleston for over 30 years. She has won many awards, most recently First Place at Piccolo Spoleto, Second Place for her entire body of work and third Place in 2014! You can find her work at: www.lauriemeyer.com. The workshop cost will be $200 for SIAG members and $250 for non-members. If you are interested, please contact Bob LeFevre at: rodory@gmail.com or call him at 843-768-3284. Don’t wait since this class will fill up quickly!
