Chairman’s remarks and Committee discussion topics:
• Fog lines: Dennis will present a motion to the Board at the upcoming March 21 meeting recommending that we paint fog lines along the edges of Seabrook Island Road and other more heavily traveled roads such as High Hammock and Haulover. Following discussion at the February meeting, the Committee agreed that our winding roads are difficult to see at night and concluded that painting white reflective fog lines along the edges of our more heavily traveled roads would be a safety enhancement which would help to avoid accidents. The motion was passed by the Committee at the February meeting.
• Street light outage procedure: Berkeley Electric is responsible for street light repairs. Broken and damaged street lights should be reported directly to Berkeley Electric either by phone at (888) 253-4232 or through their web-site at https://www.berkeleyelectriccoop/content/outdoor-light-repair-form.
• Heather updated the Committee on the status of cutting back brush and removing lattice and other visual impairments to improve visibility at several major intersections, including High Hammock/SI Road. Several property owners have expressed concern that oncoming traffic is difficult to see and these improvements will enhance visibility. Heather is instructing the Engineering department to review possible visibility improvements at all major intersections.
• The Committee discussed the need for improved communications between CCSO (Charleston County Sheriff’s Office) and SI Security. Currently CCSO communicates with the Town but there is no formal system in place to communicate with SI Security. Skip will review with the Town to ensure we understand what the process is. The Committee can then make any appropriate recommendations.

too bad…thought it was a great idea – fog lines…
The Board turned down the proposal at their meeting on Monday.
I really find it hard to believe that while traveling at 25 mph on Seabrook it is difficult to see the roadway. Are speed and beverages the true culprits here? How much will this improvement cost?
