The SIPOA Activities Committee meeting was held on March 3rd, 2016. It was chaired by Julie McCulloch, newly elected SIPOA Board Member. Julie opened the meeting by welcoming new and returning members. The committee is comprised of the following people: Janet Pasquale, Bruce Kleinman, Jerry Cohen, Dawn Strein, Valerie Doane, Judy Gimson, Roni Berttucci, Kathleen Buchman, and Vice Chair, Michael Orris. Nic Porter, Lake House recreation director, is SIPOA staff liaison.
At this meeting, to ensure that all of the members understand the role of the Activities Committee, Julie McCulloch reviewed the committee’s Mission Statement and Guiding Principles for Policy Based Governance. The guiding principles helped to create a consistent understanding of the group’s role. The committee then discussed administrative process changes, including meeting documentation; accountabilities; and meeting dates/times. Meetings will be held on the first Tuesday of the month from 9 – 10 a.m. at the Lake House. To enhance communications with property owners, meeting summaries will be submitted to the Tidelines editor for publishing.
To help the committee better understand Lake House/Oyster Catcher Community Center operations, Nic Porter presented an overview of the approved 2016 budget, explaining line items and answering questions on this topic.
The committee then discussed a few of the 2016 Community Initiatives and Events. Those included:
- Tech Forum
- Movie Matinees
- Volunteerism
- Member of the Month
- July 4th
- Holiday Tree Lighting
- Thirtieth Anniversary Celebration
Each of these events will have a Chair, and/or Co-Chairs.
A sub-group of the Activities Committee will be working on reviewing and refreshing the Lake House Rules and Regulations Manual. The sub-group has been named, and will begin work on this endeavor shortly.
