  1. It’s a synthetic open weave material; most of the wind-blown sand should work it’s way back to the beach through the weaving. It will be a SIPOA responsibility to clear off sand and other debris just like on other SIPOA beach “boardwalks”.

  2. SIPOA Board of Directors and Safety and Security Committee were very pleased this could be worked out rather quickly and has been successful. Thank you for the feedback.

  3. Was the bright blue a requirement? A more neutral color choice would blend in more. Just wondering.

  4. For almost 30 years we have visited and lived at SBI. The one negative has been that my handi caped husband could no longer get to the beach because of a disability…..Fortunately, Seabrook has now made the beach accessible to Russ and his electric scooter….It’s a joy for him to be able to attend beach picnics, sunsets at the waters edge, see dolphins up close, etc…..Thank you, POA, for addressing a much needed problem……

  5. What is the surface material shown for this access? How is it to be kept clean of sand and debris, will that be a town responsibility?

  6. We owe an enormous thank you to the tireless efforts of Ellen Coughlin, and big kudos to the SIPOA Board for green-lighting this wonderful improvement. Ellen’s indefatigable leadership pushed this issue to its rightful place front and center, and I for one hope to see her carry on throughout the island bringing us up to where we should be when it comes to access for the disabled. And as loudly as we often criticize the SIPOA Board for what it does or does not do on various issues, on this one the Board acted decisively, swiftly, and in a way that improves life here on Seabrook for so many. So thank you also to the Board for not only doing the right thing, but doing the right thing right away.
