Holiday Festival of Lights Program of Events: November 11-December 31st

Holiday Festival of Lights

Charleston County Parks and Recreation holds a wealth of events surrounding the Holiday Festival of Lights at James Island County Park on Riverland Road.

2016 Holiday Festival of Lights Grand Opening
November 11, 2016, 6:30 PM - 9:00 PM

Enjoy live music from Lowcountry Powerbrass (7-9 p.m.) and the awards presentation (6:30 p.m.) for winners of the Giant Greeting Card contest and the Light Display Design Contest.  Started in June of 2001 as an offshoot of a community orchestra that was going to take a Summer hiatus, Lowcountry Power Brass pulled together as much music and as many members as it could. The LPB has gone through many members, but has always retained its “powerful” sound.

On November 17, 2016,  6:30 PM - 7:00 PM, The Footlight Players performs Nuncrackers.  The Footlight Players is Charleston’s longest continuously producing theater company. What began as a small group in 1931 has become a theatrical tradition in Charleston, built and strengthened over many years by hundreds of willing hands, by priceless gifts of time and toil, enthusiasm and talent, and strong community support. Join us as the players perform an excerpt their Christmas show, “Nuncrackers,” uproarious take on Tchaikovsky’s Nutcracker Ballet.
