Charleston Area Therapeutic Riding Center (CATR) is holding its first fall fundraiser on Friday, October 13, from 5:30 to 9:30 pm. Pony Up contributions will go directly to feed and take care of the 11 therapy horses at the center.
CATR is a premier teaching facility that offers riding to children and adults with physical and mental challenges. Specially trained instructors, as well as volunteers, work with students every day to bring each to his or her potential. It is a very rewarding career not only for the instructors but for volunteers as well.
At Pony Up night, guests can join one of a team supporting each horse with a donation. The featured event of the evening is a showing of the classic horse movie National Velvet. In addition, there will be putt putt golf and games. A food truck and a shaved ice truck will be on hand. Drinks for sale include beer and wine.
Tickets purchased before the event are $15, adult; $8 child or family four-pack, $40; the night of will be $20, adult; $10 child or family four-pack, $50. Please bring chairs to watch the movie. CATR is located at Brickhouse Equestrian center, 2669 Hamilton Road, Johns Island, just off River Road.
