Driving Precautions For The Kiawah Island Golf Resort Marathon – December 7-9

The 40th Annual Kiawah Island Golf Resort Marathon and Half Marathon is this Saturday, December 9th at 8:00 am.

This means Bohicket Road, Main Road, and River Road will be busy the few days before the race as well as Saturday afternoon and Sunday after the race.  Freshfields might get a bit congested also.

Below is a list of events that might aid in your decision when to drive on and off of the island.

Race Expo

  • Thursday, December 7th, 4 pm – 7 pm (mini expo)
  • Friday, December 8th, 10 am – 8:30 pm
  • Race Day, Saturday, December 9th, 6:30 am – 2:00pm

Race Packet Pick-up

  • Thursday, December 7th, 4 pm – 7 pm
  • Friday, December 8th, 10 am – 8:30 pm
  • Race Day, Saturday, December 9th, 6:30 am – 7:45 am

Pre-race Bike Tour
Friday, December 8th, 2:30 pm – 4:00 pm.  The website says most of the race is within Kiawah.  However, if it is a nice day, the ride to Freshfields is an easy one.  People might decide to do that also.

Pre-race Celebration Buffet
Friday, December 8th, 5:00 pm – 8:30 pm

Finish Line Party and Award Ceremonies
Saturday, December 9th, 9:30 am – 3:00 pm
