“Water Wise” Volunteers Needed

Water Wise Owl LogoIf you want to help prevent kids from drowning, what better way than to teach them to swim as part of our program “WaterWise”.  This is the 6th year Seabrook and Kiawah volunteers will be teaching kindergarteners and 1st graders from local schools how to swim. We use the Swim Lessons University curriculum. The program runs 2 weeks of mornings in May and September.

Volunteers will be provided with free online instruction. Although not required to teach every day and all volunteers must be willing to undergo a painless online SLED background check and complete a 1 hour online youth protection program.

The swimming lessons take place at the Boy Scout camp swimming pool at Camp Ho Non Wa on Wadmalaw Island. Car pooling is usual.

What more fun and rewarding activity did you have planned this year?
