Sincere thanks to everyone who has been supporting the Sea Islands Hunger Awareness Foundation (SIHAF) by bringing brown paper grocery bags with handles to the Lake House. Over 1300 bags have been collected so far! The bags are being used at the Blessing Basket program to facilitate the monthly distribution of meat, fresh produce, and bread.
When you shop at Harris Teeter or Earth Fare, ask for paper rather than plastic. Then bring the clean, dry brown paper bags with handles to The Lake House, where a collection container has been placed in the lobby just to the right of the reception desk. This is a great way to help deliver food to needy families, individuals and elderly residents of Johns and Wadmalaw Islands, and to recycle your grocery bags at the same time.
Please keep the bags coming to support the monthly Blessing Basket program. Your thoughtfulness and generosity are very much appreciated.
