NV Realty Group will host an artist reception and exhibit of the work of Colleen Wiessmann of Seabrook Island on Wednesday, August 8, from 4:30 pm to 7:00 pm. All local residents and friends are invited. NV Realty Group’s Local Art Initiative series benefits MUSC Shawn Jenkins Children’s Hospital. As members of the island communities, NV Realty Group supports both local artists and their primary charities. All artwork will be for sale by the artist and 25% of all sales will be donated to the cause.

Colleen Wiessmann grew up in northern New Jersey and lives on Seabrook Island. After studying at the school of New York Botanical Gardens, she worked as an interior landscaper for 25 years which transformed into a love of texture and design. Ms. Wiessmann stated, “I like to tell a story in my abstract paintings, through words, lines and symbols. I create abstract paintings with acrylics, inks, wax, oil and various textured materials. I use collage and layering techniques to create dimensional artwork to capture the viewer’s eye and viewer’s emotion. The inspiration for my artwork comes from memories deep inside of me, experiences and spirituality. By channeling my energy into the creative process, my work becomes both a part of me and a reflection of life as seen through an artist’s eye.”
She is a former president of the Seabrook Island Artist Guild. Her work is in private and corporate collections and she has won many awards, including best in show. Please visit her website.
