Habitat for Humanity Veterans Build 2018

Sea Island Habitat for Humanity invites veterans and active military to build a Habitat home. We provide t-shirts, lunches and construction guidance. You provide the energy. We hope to accomplish the following:

  • Honor our vets. This special event will pay tribute to veterans, combining their work ethic and passion for helping others with Habitat’s mission of bringing people together to build homes, communities, and hope.
  • Strengthen the support network for vets. Construction experiences build strong bonds among fellow volunteers. These relationships can create a network for our vets so that they can help one another transition to and succeed in civilian life.
  • Provide dependable housing for a deserving family. Safe, decent, affordable housing is the centerpiece of all Habitat construction. Our partner families contribute sweat equity and receive an affordable mortgage.
  • Explain the process for becoming a Habitat partner. As we forge relationships with the veterans who volunteer with us, we hope to find candidates for future Habitat homes.

We will be building on Friday, Nov. 9, 2018, and Saturday, Nov. 10, 2018 (Marine Corps Birthday) at Heritage Oaks on James Island. You can work one day, both days or even part of a day.

Help us purchase materials for this home. This event is free to all veterans and active military but we welcome donations at any level to support our mission. Donations over $250 receive recognition in our Veteran Habitat Build publicity as well as on the t-shirt. Contact Jacob, jacob@seaislandhabitat.org or (843) 768-0998 if you are interested!
