CATR Seeks Volunteers for Therapeutic Riding Program

Charleston Area Therapeutic Riding (CATR), the southeast’s oldest and largest program CATR logo Aug 2019dedicated to empowering adults and children with disabilities to live more active and fulfilling lives through therapeutic horsemanship, will be offering volunteer training on Saturday, January 25, from 9:00 am to noon in preparation for its twelve-week spring classes beginning in February. The training will take place at CATR’s longtime home at Brickhouse Equestrian Center on River Road on Johns Island.

CATR serves more than 150 riders each year. Volunteers ensure that students can safely achieve their riding goals by working as sidewalkers and horse leaders in support of the rider. The January training will offer everything volunteers need to know to start working with CATR students.

Previous experience working with horses is not necessary, but registration is required to participate in the training.  To learn more and to register, email volunteers@catr-program.org or call Volunteer Coordinator Kenna Brookshire at 843-559-6040.
