Genealogy Fair 2020 a Success

Genealogy Fair 2020, hosted by the Seabrook / Kiawah Island genealogy club, Digging Into Roots Together (D.I.R.T.)  on Tuesday, January 14, 2020, was a huge success.  We had over 42 people attend and 15 of those were potential new members.

We started with a short presentation about our genealogy club and heard from guest speakers Marianne Crawley (South Carolina Room, CCPL), Charlie Black (Charleston Chapter South Carolina Genealogical Society), Dave & Delsa Biorn (The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints Family History Center),  and Ivy Blake (Daughters of the American Revolution Lineage Societies).

The theme, “Working Together – New Discoveries,” was evident when we broke up into smaller tables to get to know each other and discuss individual genealogy questions: New York-New Jersey; North Carolina; Virginia; and Beginners.  The energy was fantastic, the discussion insightful and the participation was great.

We ended the session with raffling off a number of prizes.

We invite all of you who have an interest in family history or genealogy to come to one of our twice-monthly sessions.  They are 1:30-3:30 pm on the second and fourth Wednesdays of the month in Osprey 2, at The Lake House.  Our next meeting will be on January 22.
