Let’s Get Up and Go! Balance

As seniors, many of us have issues with balance. Problems with balance can cause falls, broken bones, and can lead to an overall decline in health. We all need to make sure we are doing all we can to maintain physical agility as we age so that we can live the lives we want.

There are many exercises you can easily add to your daily routine that can improve your balance. Click here to view a short video showing Lake House Trainer, Mark Durinsky, demonstrating a simple exercise to improve balance and stop falls. If you want to change it up a bit and add some balance exercises that also build strength, here’s another video of Mark showing us a few more exercises. These exercise should be easy to add to your daily routine. During this pandemic, while you’re staying at home, take a few minutes each day to run through these exercises and make them part of your ‘new normal’ daily routine.

If you are hesitant to start trying out exercises on your own, please contact Jamie (jmogus@sipoa.org) at The Lake House to help you hire one of the personal trainers for a few sessions until you can do these exercises on your own. Also, The Lake House instructors have created a series of video exercise programs to help keep us in shape while we can’t use The Lake House.  Please contact Jamie (jmogus@sipoa.org) if you’d like the monthly subscription.

Stay home. Stay safe. Stay healthy.
