Are you running out of books to read or perhaps want to check out a movie? Even though Charleston County Public Library (CCPL) has been closed since March 16 due to the COVID-19 pandemic, patrons can still engage with the library from the comfort of their homes. CCPL offers an array of digital resources, programming, and services, and continues to expand these offerings. Click here to learn about all of their resources and programs.
CCPL is also providing limited in-person services through its curbside operations for those who already have a library card. Hours of operation for curbside services at Johns Island Public Library are as follows. Please note that hours and availability of services are subject to change.
- 9:00 am – 3:00 pm Monday, Tuesday, Friday, and Saturday
- 9:00 am – 7:00 pm Thursday
- Closed on Wednesday

What if you don’t have a library card? CCPL is issuing special e-cards that allow you only to access all the digital resources including the lending of e-books, audiobooks, movies and music and free access to all subscription-based services. E-cards will be valid until at least 30 days after CCPL branches reopen to allow public access. To sign up for an e-card, visit this form. An e-card does not allow you take advantage of curbside pick-up service.
