Palmetto Priority for Restaurants

South Carolina Governor Henry McMaster announced a new voluntary initiative, Palmetto Priority, that will show which restaurants are following recommended guidelines for safety against COVID-19. Customers who plan to eat in or carry out can check on participating restaurants in advance.

The program is completely voluntary for the restaurants. They complete a checklist of requirements, participate in online education, and take part in a DHEC limited-scope food safety inspection to assure the public that they are following extensive precautions to prevent the spread of COVID-19.

The SC Restaurant and Lodging Association is overseeing this initiative and asks patrons to complete a survey about their experience at a particular restaurant.
