Once again, Seabrookers have opened their hearts and demonstrated the caring spirit of the holiday season! The response to SIPOA’s 5th Annual Holiday Canned Food Drive resulted in the donation of 7,072 pounds of food to fight hunger on our local sea islands. This exceeded the amount collected last year.
The Sea Islands Hunger Awareness Foundation (SIHAF) is extremely grateful to everyone who brought canned goods and other staples to the Lake House over the course of the last several weeks. A special thank you to Nic Porter, Jamie Mixson and their staff for overseeing the donations and weighing every single item. Their enthusiastic support of this project helped assure its success.
Everyone’s contributions will make a huge difference for people in need. This food is being distributed to clients of the SIHAF Blessing Basket Program and to other local non-profit groups whose mission is to help feed hungry individuals and families on Johns and Wadmalaw Islands. Many items have already been provided to our neighbors and their loved ones in time for the holidays at the food distribution conducted by our volunteers on Saturday, December 12.
The generosity of Seabrookers is deeply appreciated and will help feed many people in need for several months to come.
