Palmetto Pride is the name of the road trash pick up program, commonly known under the national program name “Adopt-A-Highway,” and is run under the auspices of the Clemson Cooperative Extension Adopt-A-Highway Coordinator Marlo Shedlock. The roadway for which we, as Seabrook Island property owners, are responsible is on Betsy Kerrison Parkway from Habitat Boulevard to the Ace Hardware Plaza.
Four or five times a year volunteers from Seabrook Island head out to help spruce up this entry to our home. On our last road cleanup on November 7, ten intrepid Seabrookers collected more than 50 bags of trash. During these trying times, it is nice to have an activity that can be done in a safe, socially-distant manner and helps maintain our environment at the same time.
Our next outing will take place on Saturday, January 23. We will meet outside The Lake House to gather our bags, pick-up sticks and gloves between 8:15 and 8:30 am. For more information, contact Rich Siegel at email@example.com or 716-969-4731. We would love to have you join us then!
