On December 1, 2020, Charleston County opened its new 82,000-square-foot Material Recovery Center (Recycling Center) in North Charleston. Now, thanks to state-of-the-art optical scanning and magnetic devices, Charleston County can handle many times more recyclables and can save the cost of transporting them long distances.
Here on Seabrook Island, curbside recycling allows you to put most items out for pickup

on Mondays. You can drop off cardboard recycling at the Maintenance Center next to the Community Garden and dispose of old paint cans, chemicals, electronics, and batteries there on Brown & White pick-up days.
Click here to see the list of items that are accepted for recycling. You may want to print it out to put near your kitchen recycling bin.
