Monday, February 15, Is a Federal Holiday

Monday, February 15, is a Federal Holiday honoring all U.S. Presidents, past and present. According to history.com, it was established in 1885 in recognition of President George Washington. In 1971, the holiday became known as Presidents’ Day after it was moved to become a part of the Uniform Monday Holiday Act, which was an attempt to create more three-day weekends for the nation’s workers.

The US Post Office will be closed and there will be no mail delivery on Monday.  Most banks, as well as some schools, will also be closed.  ATM machines, of course, will still be available for you to get cash or make deposits into your accounts.

In addition, the following will be opened/closed:

SIPOA Offices will remain open.

Harris Teeter will be open.

Vincent’s Drug Store will be open.
