Kiawah-Seabrook Directory Updates

The Exchange Club of Kiawah-Seabrook
Handbook/Directory Updates
Name, Address, and Phone Number Corrections/Additions

Are you listed in the Kiawah-Seabrook Handbook/Directory?  Please check and verify that your personal information properly represents what you want in your listing. If changes need to be made or a new listing is needed, please submit this information through our website.

If the changes/additions apply to a single Directory listing, the update or addition (name(s), address, and phone number) should be entered on the website update form under the “first individual” listing entry area. If you have another person(s) at the same address and would like that to be in a separate listing, the information can be entered or updated on the same update form as the second individual listing.

To find the update form, go to the website and click on the box with the title “Update Listing” superimposed on the banner:

That will take you to the Directory update form. When your update is completed, the traditional “Submit” button can be found at the bottom of the page.

Your help will improve the Directory and make it an even more valuable community tool as well as supporting the Exchange Club’s charitable fundraising efforts through Directory ad sales.

Charlton Singleton presents Crossover: R&B and Jazz

Thursday, February 25 , 2021

Doors: 7:00 pm / Show: 8:00 pm

$18

The Crossover

There can be a fine line between some of the world’s best-known Jazz and R&B artists. Over the years we have seen tremendous “crossover” from some of the most beloved R&B artists into the Jazz category and vice-versa. George Benson, Al Jarreau, and the late Grover Washington, Jr., are just a few of the household names that were able to seamlessly go in and out of both Jazz and R&B with ease and much success. Grammy Award Winner Charlton Singleton presents his band, Contemporary Flow, in a night of songs that have made the crossover, as well as tunes from his latest solo Contemporary Jazz project, “Datenight”.

Motown Throwdown

Friday, February 26, 2021

Doors: 7:00 pm / Show: 8:00 pm

$20

Motown Throwdown is a powerhouse soul band steeped in the traditions of funk, soul, pop, rock, R&B, and jazz. This outfit of local heavyweights has established itself as a leader in the Charleston music scene, beginning with their long time residency at the Charleston Pour House. The 5-piece consists of siren Kanika Moore, sax-man and vocalist Mike Quinn, guitar wizard Dave Grimm, Stuart White on drums and the inimitable Corey Stephens on bass. As the name implies, the music starts within the Motown soul tradition, but manifests itself in a plethora of unique styles and arrangements from across the musical spectrum. Expect an enormously energetic performance with ripping solos, soulful vocals, and catchy, synchronized melodies on top of a thick, relentless funk driven core. Also, expect to dance and be wildly entertained.

Five Days Left to Vote!

SIPOA needs your help! As of right now, we have only received 817 votes of a total of 2,572 properties. To constitute a quorum, a minimum of 1,158 votes must be represented at the Annual Meeting. If you have already voted, thank you! Please spread the word to your neighbors and friends who have not already voted. Please read the voting process information carefully.

The 2021 SIPOA Annual Meeting will be held on Saturday, February 13, 2021, at 10:30 am via Zoom Webinar. The meeting is open to all property owners, and all are welcome to attend. The Annual Meeting is an essential part of the overall management of our community, and your vote is critical in order for SIPOA to achieve a quorum to conduct business at the meeting. Please be sure to vote!

Please follow the steps below to participate in the voting process:

  • Each voter must appoint a proxy. The role of the proxy is to represent and assure your vote is cast at the annual meeting as part of meeting the quorum requirement.
  • All Proxy Appointment forms must be received by the SIPOA Secretary prior to 8:00 am on Saturday, February 13, 2021. Proxy Appointment Forms received after 8:00 am on February 13, 2021, will not be valid. Returning your completed and signed Proxy Appointment Form well before February 13, 2021, is the easiest and best way to ensure that we have a quorum, and your vote is counted!
  • If you vote electronically, you will have to appoint a proxy before proceeding to vote. You will have two options (Your vote still counts as your vote by selecting one of the two options) :
    1. You can assign your proxy to the SIPOA Secretary, to be cast as directed on the following proxy appointment form.
    2. You can designate someone other than the SIPOA Secretary by indicating the identity of a different individual (a property owner in good standing) as your proxy, only if you want someone other than the SIPOA Secretary to be your proxy.
  •  If you vote electronically, the email about voting was sent to the primary email address on file with SIPOA on Thursday, January 14, 2021, at 8:00 am from announcement@associationvoting.com. Remember, only one vote can be cast per property. If you cannot find the original email, please visit https://vote.associationvoting.com/sipoa/ and click on the help button. You will be required to enter the full name and email address of the person designated “primary” for your property to request help. Once you submit your information, you will be emailed your voting login credentials from webmaster@associationvoting.com.
  • Please Note: If you vote electronically and have multiple properties, you received a voting email for each property owned. You are entitled to cast a vote using each property, so make sure you do so. You will continue to receive reminder emails if you have not cast your vote.
  • If you are a paper voter, you have the opportunity to designate someone other than the SIPOA Secretary by indicating the identity of a different individual (a property owner in good standing) as your proxy, only if you want someone other than the SIPOA Secretary to be your proxy. If you choose not to designate someone other than the SIPOA Secretary, you will by default be selecting the SIPOA Secretary as your proxy. *Your vote still counts as your vote with both options.
  • If you are a paper voter, please mail your completed and signed Proxy Appointment form in the prepaid return envelope that was provided in the voting package mailed to you. You can also drop it off in the dropbox in front of our building at 1202 Landfall Way, Johns Island, SC 29455.

As a reminder, this email goes out to everyone signed up to receive SIPOA eblasts. If you have received this email and have already voted, you can disregard this information. If you continue to receive emails from announcement@associationvoting.com, that means you have not yet voted, or you have started to vote, but did not cast your vote. If you think you have already voted and have questions, please contact Rhiannon Schalaudek at rschalaudek@sipoa.org.

Thank you!

Brown & White Pickup February 12

Don’t forget that the February Brown & White pickup day is Friday, February 12, to coincide with the Annual Meeting weekend. Standard first-Friday pickups will resume March 5. Bulk items can be left curbside by 7:00 am.  Place items including furniture, appliances, grills, lawn furniture, or other similar household items where you would normally leave your trash and recycling.

Hazardous waste such as old paint cans, electronics, batteries, fluorescent lights, and old yard or household chemicals can be taken to the Maintenance Area (adjacent to the Community Garden) that morning between 9 am and 2 pm.  Hazardous materials must be handed directly to the attendant on duty. The materials cannot be left on the ground.

If you are planning to put bikes out on Brown & White Pickup day, Sarah Quinn is collecting them for the Bicycles for Humanity (B4H) Program. You can call her to pick them up. Her phone number is (843) 768-4407. Sarah has saved more than 1,800 bikes from the landfill! Find out more about B4H here.

Before you put your used furniture or other items on the curb for Brown & White Pickup on Friday, consider recycling it with Sea Island Habitat for Humanity Restore. Contact the store at 843-559-4009 for more information.
