Plunging into 2022!

North Beach, January 1, 2022 at 10:10 am

The 5th Annual Polar Bear Plunge took place at North Beach on an initially overcast, 68° New Year’s morning. Despite the cool breeze, intrepid swimmers of all ages and their fans gathered waiting for the countdown to the plunge. The large and enthusiastic crowd made its way to the shoreline, and as the countdown concluded, more than 100 hearty swimmers leapt into the chilly Atlantic as onlookers watched in amazement while quickly clicking photos! Some plungers quickly returned to warming towels while others lingered in the surf. A bonfire and hot chocolate awaited both participants and supporters!

As the photos convey, it was a terrific morning on the beach and a good time was had by all, including dogs. Thanks to Nic Porter, Jamie Mixson and the Lake House staff for organizing this event and thanks to all who made the plunge or cheered them on!
