The Art and Poetry of David Drake June 24

Gibbes Museum of Art
June 24, 2023 @ 10:30 – Noon

Join the Gibbes Museum for a conversation about David Drake. David the Potter is recognized as one of the most accomplished nineteenth-century potters in the United States. Even though his pots—many inscribed with original verse—sit in museums across the nation, he is too often passed over when considering the early foundations of African American poetry. Join the conversation with artist Jonathan Green and poet Glenis Redmond as they discuss Drake’s pottery and poetry.
